Summary
Lidl US is seeking a Front-End BI Developer to join our Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team. While most of our team focuses on the "numbers," this role focuses on the narrative. You will be the primary architect for our self-service reporting suite, transforming complex financial datasets into intuitive, high-impact MicroStrategy Dossiers.
The goal is simple: ensure our stakeholders spend less time "finding" data and more time "analyzing" it.
What You’ll Do
Essential Functions
- Effectively manage projects and project timelines while working independently and collaboratively to achieve short, medium, and long-term departmental visions
- Evaluate industry best practices and monitor developments and innovations within the retail sector particular to their business that may be beneficial to the daily operations of the organization
- Analyze and evaluate projects and develop ideas and/or practical solutions for streamlining business processes
- Dossier Architecture: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of executive-level MicroStrategy Dossiers, ensuring they are high-performing and mobile-responsive.
- User Experience (UX) Design: Apply data visualization best practices to create intuitive navigation paths, clear hierarchies, and actionable insights that cater to both "quick glance" users and "deep dive" analysts.
- Stakeholder Requirements: Work directly with FP&A and Department Leads to translate business questions into visual workflows.
- Performance Optimization: Partner with the data engineering team to ensure underlying datasets (cubes/reports) are optimized for fast dashboard loading times. Monitor and optimize dashboard performance and load times to ensure a seamless "self-service" experience.
- Enablement & Training: Act as the internal subject matter expert, coaching the broader FP&A team on how to build their own basic visualizations and use advanced Dossier features.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Visualization Tools: Strong skillset & experience creating dashboards, preferably in MicroStrategy. Experience in PowerBI, Tableau or Looker is acceptable, provided there is a willingness to translate those skills into the MicroStrategy ecosystem.
- Data Proficiency: SQL Basics - Ability to extract relevant data using Filters, Groups and Joins, ensuring data is reduced to the appropriate granularity prior to importing into the BI front-end to maximize dashboard responsiveness. Proven ability to optimize dashboards containing millions of transaction rows.
- UI/UX Principles: Proven experience in dashboard wireframing and user-centric design. Ability to design dashboards using the "Overview First, Zoom and Filter, then Details-on-Demand" framework. Design responsive views optimized for tablets or handheld devices.
- Financial Literacy & Industry knowledge: Familiarity with retail-specific metrics; Sales, Margin, Shrinkage, and productivity KPIs.
- Advanced Productivity Suite Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) or Google Workspace (Sheets, Slides, Docs).
- Quality Assurance: The ability to implement logic to handle or highlight data anomalies or inaccuracies to ensure insights are accurate.
- Strategic Communication: Skilled at translating complex data visualizations for non-technical stakeholders. Proven ability to lead the end-to-end "Go-Live" lifecycle, including developing user documentation and driving adoption through interactive "Office Hours."
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Portfolio evidence of previous dashboard work (anonymized) is highly encouraged.
Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field

- Business Requirement Documentation (BRD): Proven ability to lead "Discovery Sessions" with non-technical stakeholders to translate requests into specific technical requirements. Ability to audit source data availability before development begins, ensuring project scopes are attainable.
Physical Job Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
