Summary
The Customs Analyst performs substantial parts of the data entry and research processes within the department. This role supports the department by working on multiple projects independently. The individual is responsible for classifying items and identifying import requirements to ensure items are imported within regulations. The Customs Analyst performs in-depth research analysis on customs processes and regulations to support the team.
What You’ll Do
Essential Functions
- Understand relevant import and customs regulations in detail and act accordingly
- Contribute accurate and analyzed data to senior analysts to be updated in the department’s manuals, reports, presentations, and project plans
- Carry out research and analysis of relevant customs processes and regulations
- Filing customs entries and ISF’s in a timely manner
- Manage holds and maintain inventory accuracy for inspections
- Ensuring supplier info is up to date prior to importation
- Perform customs data entry tasks in various systems
- Process mapping and documentation of customs processes
- Assist in conducting complex projects without errors in deadline-driven environment
- Assist in conducting in-depth research analysis on customs processes and regulations
- Liaise with Customs Broker, carriers and internal parties in order to resolve issues and ensure timely release of shipments
- Update and maintain department's KPIs
- Escalate issues proactively to the manager
- Train or guide the work of other team members on occasion
- Perform other duties as assigned
What You’ll Need
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Solid understanding of import and customs processes and regulations
- Solid understanding of international trade regulations
- Ability to work on different projects and tasks simultaneously
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Attention to Detail
- Strong Excel skills and understanding of the Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to respond effectively to changing workloads and conflicting priorities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Familiarity with grocery industry and relevant legal requirements
- Familiarity with SAP ERP Systems
Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in related fields
- In lieu of degree & certificate, 2+ years of experience in related field will meet the education requirements listed above
Physical Job Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs on occasion
Travel Requirements
- This position commutes between stores, regional offices and/or distribution centers less than 25% of the time
