Summary
Lidl US is looking for a Senior Commercial Finance Analyst to join the team. As a Senior Analyst within our Corporate Finance central strategy and oversight team, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between raw data and strategic decision-making. Operating within the FPA pillar, you will take ownership of specific commercial PnL lines, driving the month-end close process and conducting deep-dive variance analyses to uncover the root causes behind financial performance. From coordinating bi-annual planning cycles to developing rolling forecasts and supporting high-stakes meetings with Merchandising and Marketing leads, you will act as a key analytical engine for the business.
What You’ll Do

Manage specific commercial PnL lines, ensuring all month-end accruals are accurate and fully aligned with departmental expectations and financial discipline.

Lead Plan vs. Actual analysis by investigating the root causes of performance fluctuations; dive into volume, price, and mix drivers to deliver both recurring reports and ad-hoc strategic insights.

Coordinate the development of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and mid-year forecasts, playing a central role in translating company strategy into actionable financial targets.

Maintain and evolve rolling forecast models, updating financial projections monthly to reflect real-time business performance and market trends.

Act as a strategic resource for Commercial Business Partners by preparing data-backed evidence and analysis for high-stakes meetings with Merchandising and Marketing leadership.

What You’ll Need

Exceptional ability to deconstruct complex business challenges into clear, driver-based financial models.

Proven track record of identifying trends or anomalies in commercial data and independently investigating root causes.

Advanced mastery of productivity suites, including expert-level proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) or Google Workspace (Sheets, Slides, Docs).

Proficiency in dashboarding software, specifically MicroStrategy or comparable tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.

Hands-on experience with SAP or similar Tier 1 ERP systems.

Strong familiarity with retail-specific metrics, including Sales, Margin, Shrinkage, and productivity KPIs.

Proficiency in Management Accounting, with a solid understanding of Budget Controlling and the Month-End Financial Close cycle

Ability to translate complex analysis and financial findings into clear, actionable insights for non-financial audiences.

A zero-error mindset with the discipline to build sanity checks into complex datasets to ensure 100% accuracy before reporting.
Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Mathematics or Business Administration). We value logical thinking and mathematical proficiency above specific degree titles.

2–4 years of progressive experience in FP&A, Commercial Finance, or a similar analytical role.

In lieu of a formal degree, 5+ years of relevant professional experience in financial planning and analysis will be considered.
