Summary
To provide administrative and leadership support through collaboration and problem-solving skills across a wide range of shipments to various ports within Europe and America.
The main objectives of the position are:
- Team & Logistics Operations Leadership: Lead the operations team and manage end-to-end logistics solutions to meet business demands.
- Process Optimisation: Improve the Service Level Agreement (SLA) compliance and drive operational efficiency through continuous process improvement.
- Performance & Forecasting: Monitor logistics performance and forecast capacity, demands, and resource requirements.
What you'll do
Daily Operations & Logistics Execution
- Oversee daily operations: Manage day-to-day logistics activities, ensuring strict adherence to established policies, procedures, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Manage urgent requests: Lead the team in handling short-notice requirements from the Merchandise teams, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to guarantee goods arrive at port on time.
- Monitor performance metrics: Track production boards, shipment software, and logistics dashboards to ensure all operational targets and KPIs are consistently met.
- Handle exceptions: Manage ad-hoc requirements for vessel arrangements and troubleshoot transit issues to ensure on-time delivery to customers.
Team Leadership & Workload Management
- Optimise workload distribution: Allocate new Purchase Orders (POs) and structure the team based on continuous workload analysis, accounting for seasonal peaks and shipping volumes.
- Develop the team: Mentor, motivate, and develop employees by preparing and conducting regular talent and performance reviews.
- Align with corporate strategy: Translate corporate strategies into actionable team goals, actively involving employees in the department's ongoing development.
- Support leadership: Assist the Line Manager with daily escalations and provide dedicated support on departmental projects.
Strategy, Optimization & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Optimise processes: Identify operational bottlenecks and sources of error to optimize Supply Chain Management processes and synergies.
- Forecast and plan: Develop comprehensive forecasts and capacity plans to proactively manage upcoming shipment volumes.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all operational logistics topics across the business.
- Drive digitalisation initiatives to improve logistics workflows and increase overall efficiency.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics or relevant field
- Passionate, self-motivated individual who collaborates well with others.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience within Logistics (e.g. for a leading European company)
- Communication Skill: Excellent communication skill (both written and verbal) to ensure tasks completed are understood and accepted by key stakeholders
- Good command of both spoken and written language in English.
- Decision Making: Good decision-making skills to be able to complete key tasks in order or priority.
- Complex Problem Solving: Problem solving skills to work through barriers and or ineffective ways of working that prevent on time shipments.
- Critical Thinking: Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems.
- Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office/Google Workspace applications Excel/Sheets, Word and PowerPoint/Slides
