Step into a role with true global impact. As a key member of our Food and Near Food team, you will partner closely with the Senior Quality Manager to champion product excellence. As our technical expert, you will take ownership of the quality and safety of products that reach millions of households every single day.
You will ensure that every item not only meets but exceeds the highest international standards. Your daily work will directly safeguard the products sold across thousands of Lidl and Kaufland stores worldwide—all driven from our dynamic base in our office at Airside, Kai Tak.
Beyond daily operations, you will independently manage technical and QA initiatives across Asia, acting as the bridge between suppliers and top-tier laboratories in Europe and Asia. We are looking for an innovator: someone who can spot opportunities to continuously improve our QA systems and procedures while maintaining the smart, efficient, low-cost model that drives our success.
What you'll do
- Global Collaboration: Define and execute testing protocols with international teams for food/near-food projects across all selling markets.
- Offshore Alignment: Act as the link to offshore QA counterparts for project success.
- Supplier Safety: Ensure rigorous food safety risk assessments are implemented with suppliers.
- Quality Improvement: Proactively maintain and elevate product quality through direct supplier interaction.
- Process Management: Coordinate sampling, inspection, testing, and reporting with suppliers and labs.
- Quality Ownership: Analyze data and conduct quality assessments to own product quality reviews.
- Standard Setting: Establish documented quality standards and product specifications for new projects.
- Documentation Maintenance: Keep product specifications and risk assessments current.
- Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve customer/product feedback swiftly with internal and external partners.
- Travel Required: Conduct occasional site visits to build relationships and observe processes.
What you'll need
- A solid foundation with 1 to 3 years of hands-on working experience in the Food and Near Food industry.
- A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent). A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or a closely related field is a massive advantage!
- Stellar communication skills, with fluency in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin required. Knowledge of German is a fantastic bonus.
- Fluency in the digital workspace, specifically proficiency in Google Workspace.
