Summary

Lidl & Kaufland Asia are hiring Senior Industrial Designer to join our product development housewares and SDA team. As a Senior Industrial Designer, you will bring relevant experience to develop products from concept to manufacture. You will be driven, with a passion for design thinking and innovation.

 

What you'll do

•    Research and identify opportunities to improve user experiences with current and potential products
•    Focus on rapid visual prototyping, user-centered design principles, and ergonomics.
•    Translate ideas into sketches, CAD models, 3D prints and finally ID prototypes.
•    Successfully meet defined project goals.
•    Present sketches, renders, and rapid prototype models to the relevant teams.
•    Work with engineers and / or factories to ensure design intent is preserved through the product development process.
•    Lead design projects and mentor junior team members.
•    Track the product development timeline and deadlines independently

What you'll need

  • Higher Diploma or above.
  • Significant and relevant experience in Industrial Design or Product Design.
  • Understanding of the European market is a must.
  • Proficient in both spoken and written English  additional language skills in Mandarin, German and Cantonese are Beneficial
  • Passion for design thinking, innovation and solutions to every-day problems.
  • Strong sketching, concept development and prototyping skills.
  • Experience working frequently with 3D CAD and 2D design tools like Solidworks, Rhino, Keyshot, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • A strong understanding of manufacturing methods, processes, materials and constraints. Beneficial if experience in Houseware products and SDA.
  • Strong sensitivity to form, function and CMF.
  • Embracing a hands-on approach with lots of quick prototyping.
  • A proven track record of designing innovative consumer products.
  • Comfort in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Team player, proactive, self motivated and able to work independently.
  • A proven track record of leading design projects and teams.
