Summary

  • Monitor the whole order process from end to end.
  • Responsible for items in price and quality.
  • Negotiation with suppliers to achieve the best possible quality at the best possible price, while hitting margin targets as defined by headquarters.
  • Be accountable for business measurability. This includes profitability, delivery performance and quality of the articles.

What you'll do

  • Main contact point to the factories to coordinate the end-to-end process.
  • Define the right price and quality per item and generate best value for money for our customer.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and monitor the factories for continuous improvement and business development.
  • Work on existing product growth and New Product Development, owning end to end from sampling process to negotiation.
  • Manage quotations, price analysis and price negotiations with suppliers within the negotiation parameters.
  • Help to manage the order allocation process within the department strategy and the set framework from headquarters.
  • Monitors the end-to-end process and critical path management within the merchandising team and through day-to-day liaison with QA, supply chain, logistics, Artwork & Packaging and other supporting departments.
  • Regular liaison and exchange with International Buyers and our Country Sourcing Teams
  • Manage the ordering progress and provide problem solving wherever necessary.

What you'll need

  • Tertiary level education.
  • Min 2+ years merchandising experience.
  • Prior Food and/or Near Food experience
  • Technical and process know-how for the relevant categories preferred.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Strong negotiator with a commercial mindset.
  • Proactively anticipate issues and provide problem solving wherever necessary.
  • Works well under pressure, effectively handles conflict and demonstrates flexibility in work style to accommodate changing priorities and fixed deadlines.
  • Problem solving skills, with the ability to seek advice when required.
  • Proficient in MS Office/Google Workspace (specifically Excel/Sheets and Power Point/Slides).
  • Willing to travel as required.
