Summary

Reporting to the Analytics Product Manager, the Senior Analytics Product Owner serves as the strategic bridge between business operations and our technical data delivery teams. You will own the BI Analytics product roadmap, translating complex business needs into scalable, governed data products built on our GCP Data Lakehouse and Enterprise Looker platforms. As a key driver of our Data & Analytics Transformation, you will initially partner with vendors to guide the technical build, while simultaneously providing hands-on leadership to junior team members. You will leverage your expertise in modern data practices and governance to elevate our operating model - shifting the team from reactive BI Analytics product builders to proactive internal consultants who deliver high-impact, outcome driven solutions

What you'll do

Business-to-Technical Translation:

  • Serve as the primary, day-to-day translator between functional business leaders and the technical data engineers/implementation vendors, ensuring the technical build directly solves the right business problems.
  • Author precise, exhaustive User Stories and business requirements. Ensure all necessary logic for Source-to-Target Mapping (STTM), custom aggregations, and complex merchandising calculations are clearly defined for the engineering pipeline.
  • Develop a strong understanding of upstream systems to anticipate how application data structures and business process changes will impact downstream enterprise analytics.

Data Governance, Quality, & Release Management:

  • Validate that the data surfaced in Looker Studio is mathematically accurate, governed, and matches agreed-upon business definitions through rigorous User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Own the Business Data Glossary. Ensure all KPIs have a single, universally agreed-upon enterprise definition.
  • Partner with Change Management teams to design Data Literacy initiatives, actively demonstrating to the business how to extract commercial value from Analytics Products and AI tools.
  • Coordinate with the business, vendors, and development teams to manage release cycles, ensuring new analytics products are deployed smoothly without disrupting existing business operations.

Analytical Consulting & Insight Generation:

  • Apply a rigorous, hypothesis-driven approach to complex business problems. Use exploratory data analysis (EDA) and data profiling to complex raw datasets to uncover performance trends, validate metric logic, and ensure proposed Analytics solutions are grounded in data reality. (overlay business elements).
  • Synthesize complex data sets into clear, executive-level narratives. Go beyond reporting the what to clearly communicate the so what and now what to leadership.
  • Partner with the Change Manager to design Data Literacy workshops, actively demonstrating how to extract commercial value from the new Looker dashboards.
Analytics Product Roadmap & Delivery Strategy
  • Own the end-to-end Analytics product backlog throughout the Data & Analytics Transformation Journey and beyond. Prioritize the design and development of dashboards, KPIs, and AI features based on their direct ability to drive quantifiable sourcing efficiencies and operational effectiveness for the business.
Implement Agile Product Management frameworks to manage vendor deliverables during the initial implementation, and subsequently to govern the internal Analytics team's ongoing dashboard development.
  • Partner with Analytics Product Manager to define the long-term roadmap for the analytics platform, actively shifting the department from providing reactive, historical reports to delivering proactive, predictive insights that directly support merchandising and supply chain decisions.
  • Act as the strategic gatekeeper for new reporting requests. Apply a proactive consulting approach to challenge stakeholders, refine true business requirements, and actively manage Dashboarding pools .

Functional Leadership & Workload Management

  • Act as the day-to-day functional lead and mentor for assigned Analytics Product Owners (Analysts), guiding their task execution, prioritization, and delivery standards.
  • Actively manage your pod's workload, ensuring a sustainable balance and effective delivery across both project milestones and ongoing BAU dashboard support.
  • Drive the technical and business upskilling of the analysts you work with, fostering a collaborative culture of continuous learning across Google Cloud, Enterprise Looker Studio, and domain business logic.

What you'll need

  • 6+ years of experience in Analytics Product Management, Data Strategy, or Analytics Consulting, with proven experience managing enterprise-scale Analytics Product rollouts.
  • Deep, foundational knowledge of Retail, Sourcing, Merchandising, and Supply Chain lifecycle management is highly advantageous, along with the ability to quickly learn new business domains.
  • Proven ability to step into an active, in-flight enterprise transformation. You must be comfortable taking immediate ownership of functional requirements, wireframing, and vendor deliverables before the technical platform is fully available, bridging the gap between current state and future state.
  • Experience balancing your own work with supporting a team - helping junior product owners and analysts manage their daily tasks and grow their skills.
  • Proven experience managing external vendors and technical teams. Must be highly skilled at writing detailed User Stories, Source-to-Target Mapping (STTM) logic, and leading rigorous User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to break down complex business problems, investigate the data, and deliver clear recommendations.
  • Strong fluency in Data Lake concepts (GCP/BigQuery) and modern BI tools. Enterprise Looker Studio experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong SQL and BigQuery proficiency to independently analyze raw data and validate metric logic before vendor development begins.
  • Comfortable using modern AI tools (e.g. the Google Gemini ecosystem) to assist with complex problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Must act as a strong bridge between non-technical business users and technical data engineers to ensure the product meets business needs and avoids technical debt.
