Lidl is seeking a Head of Corporate Communications to lead and shape our corporate communications strategy during a period of significant growth and transformation. This role will play a critical part in strengthening our brand, managing reputation, and aligning internal and external messaging across all Corporate channels. This senior role sits at the centre of the organisation’s strategic communications, managing major announcements, strengthening media relationships, managing issues and advising senior leaders. 

 

As the Head of Corporate Communications you’ll equally be responsible for shaping and delivering clear, consistent and engaging internal communications that align employees with the organisation’s vision, values and business objectives. Ensuring that all communication is consistent with the overarching corporate communications strategy and flows effectively across all levels, fostering transparency, engagement, trust, and pride in our culture. 

 

Working alongside the Head of Stakeholder Engagement and the Head of Sustainability, this role will form an integral part of the Corporate Affairs leadership team and reports into the Director of Corporate Affairs.

What you'll do

 

  • Designing and managing a national corporate communication strategy, leading proactive corporate communications executions that articulate strategy, purpose and business priorities.

  • Developing and implementing measures to manage reputation and strengthen the corporate brand.

  • Advising and empowering management and specialist departments on strategic communication challenges.

  • Strategic engagement with relevant internal and external stakeholders and opinion leaders

  • Ensuring regular analysis of the company's reputation and anchoring reputation as a relevant key performance indicator within the company.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the executive leadership team.

  • Manage and mentor a high performing communications team.

  • Lead crisis communications and issues management. 

  • Drive strategic internal communications and manage internal communication channels.

What you'll need

 

  • Extensive corporate and financial communications experience. Agency background managing large brands are welcome.

  • Strong ability to influence senior leaders, including Directors and Board-level stakeholders.

  • Exceptional written, verbal and analytical skills.

  • Proven experience managing high-profile crises and securing national media coverage.

  • A collaborative, resilient approach and ability to work at pace on complex issues.

  • Strong media relationships and understanding of the UK stakeholder landscape.

  • Commercial acumen and the ability to connect communications to long-term business and regulatory priorities.

  • Exceptional writing/editing, public speaking, and high-level project management.
